The Arizona State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) has reviewed your post-wildfire baer submission for the above-referenced undertaking pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and its implementing regulations at 36 CFR Part 800.
Project description. SYNTHETIC demonstration record. Post-wildfire BAER submitted by SWCA Environmental (synthetic).
Area of Potential Effects (APE). The APE includes a polygon of approximately 103.67 km² centered at 33.0104°, -111.8277° in Pima County, Arizona.
Federal nexus. The APE intersects the following surface management jurisdictions: Private Land (Private); Gila River Indian Res. (Indian Lands).
Tribal consultation. The APE intersects sovereign tribal land(s): Gila River Indian Community. Concurrent consultation with the appropriate Tribal Historic Preservation Officer(s) is required under 36 CFR 800.2(c)(2)(ii).
Flood hazard. The APE intersects FEMA flood zone(s) D, X.
Identified historic properties. The submission identified 2 historic properties within or adjacent to the APE:
- Sacaton Dam Bridge (NRIS 88001621) — recommended effect: No historic properties affected.
- San Tan Canal Bridge (NRIS 88001622) — recommended effect: No adverse effect.
ADOT historic / scenic route(s). Coolidge to Florence to Casa Grande to La Palma Highway; Picacho to Cooliddge to Chandler to Mesa to Payson to Winslow.
Determination. Based on the foregoing, SHPO concurs with a finding of ADVERSE EFFECT, with stipulations pursuant to 36 CFR 800.5. Stipulations to protect contributing resources during construction shall be incorporated into the project design and monitored by a qualified historic preservation specialist.
This determination is non-final until concurrence is received from all consulting parties. Should the scope of the undertaking change, please resubmit for re-review per 36 CFR 800.13.
